The burden of infant RSV to Integrated Care Systems
Explore our Integrated Care System (ICS) map to view both the occupancy and cost burden of infant RSV within your specific area.
You can view data for each ICS using the filter tool on this page to show you:
- How many RSV-related patients under 5 were admitted to hospital;
- A breakdown of inpatient age groups;
- Number of days they occupied a bed;
- The cost of their treatment as a whole and per patient.
You can switch between the data parameters shown in the map below to see how your local ICS compares with other ICS regions in England for average cost per patient, the total cost of treatment, and the total number of bed days taken up by an RSV-related inpatient. Data is also provided at the national level to allow you to see whether your local ICS is above or below the national average.
All data has been compiled from Hospital Episode Statistics (HES) data using RSV and Acute Bronchiolitis indicators for those under 5 years old. Data relates to April 2019 ─ March 2020 and April 2022 – March 2023 to demonstrate the pre-COVID and post-COVID years.1

Together Against RSV is a disease awareness initiative from Sanofi that aims to educate and inform parents, expectant parents, and caregivers about respiratory infections in infants caused by respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).
